Recruiting: your people or ours
On the People step of a new study you choose who takes part. The price per interview depends on the audience, not on your plan.
| Audience | Who | Per interview | Per survey response |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your own people | Your customers or users, invited with a link | $10 | Free |
| Everyday people | Consumers from our panel | $39 | $3 |
| Professionals | People by job title, industry and company size | $99 | $3 |
Website surveys are always free: the people are your site's visitors.
Your own people
Every study has a participant link. Send it to your customers or users however you like: email, in-app message, a support reply.
- On the People step, pick Your own people.
- Paste their email addresses (or upload a CSV) under Your list. You can also leave the list empty and only share the link.
- When the study launches, we email the invite from your workspace to everyone on the list: the study's name, what kind of session it is and how long it takes, when it closes, and the participant link. Replies go to the study's owner. People don't need an account: they sign up from the link and land in the study.
- People who open the link see what the study involves, agree to take part, answer the screener and, if they qualify, start the interview.
You can also copy the participant link from the study's Participants tab (Invite your own people) and share it any way you like.
Who gets emailed, and when
- Each address gets one invite per study. Addresses you add to a running study are emailed then; people already emailed aren't emailed again.
- Invite your own people on the Participants tab shows each address with its status: Emailed (with the date), Not sent yet or Couldn't send. Email the N sends to everyone not emailed yet. To send one again, use Email again in that person's ⋯ menu (once a day at most).
- A workspace sends at most 1,000 invite emails in 24 hours. Anything over that goes out automatically later. A send that fails is tried again.
- Only studies that are recruiting or live send invites. Sending them costs nothing extra: you pay for completed interviews as usual.
For human interviews there's also a booking link, which lets people who pass the screener pick a time.
Your own people aren't paid by us, and the first three interviews with your own people are free on any plan.
You can also ask Eva to email invitations to a list of people. Eva shows you who it will email and waits for your go-ahead; the emails go out the same way (and are listed on the Participants tab). See Approvals.
People from our panel
- On the People step, pick Everyday people or Professionals.
- Set who qualifies:
- Everyday people: countries, age range, gender, languages, occupation and industry.
- Professionals: the same, plus seniority, company size and the tools they use.
- The page shows how many people in our pool match: "N people in our pool match", and a rough time to fill.
- Set a deadline if you need one. Recruiting stops at the deadline, even if the study isn't full. Without a deadline, invitations stay open for 7 days.
People from the panel must pass your screener before they're invited to the interview. A study that recruits from the panel needs at least one screener question.
People who take part from our panel are paid for each completed interview: see Payouts.
Overflow to Prolific
For AI interviews you can turn on Overflow to Prolific if the pool runs short. If our pool is too small for your filters, or recruiting falls behind, the study is also offered to people on Prolific. The price per interview stays the same. Prolific participants take the same interview and are paid by Prolific.
After launch
On the study's Participants tab you can see everyone invited, their screener answers, status and reward. From a participant's menu you can Replace them or Remove them. See Replacements.
