Clips & highlight reels
A clip is a moment from an interview, an agent session or an upload. Clips are the evidence behind every claim in a study report.
Make a clip
- Open a session (from the study's Sessions tab) or a file in the Library.
- Hover a line in the transcript and click Clip.
- Trim the start and end in the New clip dialog.
- Leave Save to study report evidence on if you want it considered for the study report.
- Save. You'll see "Clip saved".
A clip can be up to 15 minutes long. Clips made from a Library file are listed under that file.
Eva also makes clips: when you generate a study report for a study that has no clips yet, it cuts them from the longest answers, and you can ask Eva in chat to save a moment as a clip.
A clip that a study report claim cites can't be deleted until the claim no longer uses it.
Download or embed a clip
In the New clip dialog, or from a saved clip's ⋯ menu under Clips from this session:
- Download MP4 cuts the clip from the recording and downloads it. With Captions on, what was said is burned into the video. Longer clips take a little while; a message shows the progress. Downloading the same clip again is instant.
- Copy embed code copies an
<iframe>you can paste into a page, a wiki or a slide tool that takes embeds. The player shows the clip and its citation (like P2 04:12), never the participant's name, and has its own captions button. Anyone who can see that page can play the clip.
In the New clip dialog, both buttons save the clip first.
Every embed is a share link: turn it off in Settings → Shared links and the player stops working. Deleting the clip, or the participant withdrawing their recording, stops it too.
A clip from a session with no recording (a text-only answer, for example) comes out as a card showing its quote.
Highlight reels
A highlight reel strings a study's best clips together, to play back to your team.
- Open the study and go to the Highlight reel tab.
- Add up to 12 clips from the study.
- Drag them into order (or use the arrows), and trim each one.
- Add a title card if you like: up to 60 characters, shown for 3 seconds before the first clip.
Changes save as you go. Highlight reels are available on AI and human interview studies.
Export a reel
Click Export MP4. The clips are cut from their recordings and joined in order, after the title card, with captions burned in. A progress bar shows how far along it is; long reels take a few minutes. When it's done the MP4 downloads, and a copy is saved to the Library.
Exporting a reel you haven't changed since the last export is instant. A clip with no recording shows as a card with its quote, and the export tells you how many did.
Share a reel
Click Share link and copy the link. Anyone with it can watch the reel, and see its clips, without an account. Choose when the link expires (it never does unless you pick a date).
The page always shows the reel as it is now: when you change the reel, the page shows the new version once it's ready. Turn the link off in Settings → Shared links; deleting the reel turns it off too.
